Yesterday marked our 'ten months together' milestone.
We were at the Children's Hospital, this past Monday, for a follow-up appointment with Phebe's cardiologist. When the nurse first saw Phebe, she just shook her head and said: "She's like a brand new child!" And she wasn't even talking about Phebe's fixed heart! You see, this nurse first met us back in January, when Phebe was just part of our family for about 3 months. She definitely was not the same child. The nurse went on to say how much confidence she has now and how happy she is. And yes, it's absolutely true, she's been home 10 months now, she exudes confidence, she laughs and smiles all day long - nothing gets this girl down, she knows the language, she understands us, she trusts us, she gets our personalities, she understands our rules and our routines - she is just so much more secure and trusting because of all these things put together.
And most of all, she's flourishing, because she is loved beyond measure.
I have been reading for a long, long time. I have been meaning to tell you for weeks how deeply happy she looks. What a wonderful thing family is!
ReplyDeleteOf course she is flourishing! She is an amazing little girl with a super-fantast family! Love this sweet shot of Phebe and Baba. They kinda like each other, don't they?

ReplyDeleteHappy 10 months! I've followed your blog for a bit, but not sure if I have ever posted a comment. Your daughters are both beautiful as is your photography! We just got home a month ago from China with our 16 month old daughter and she is from Hunan too. I was scrolling through my list of blogs, and hadn't checked yours lately! I saw several posts back where you mentioned Phebe is from Hunan! Would love to connect with you and find out which SWI she was in. Our blog is www.schmidtfamilysnapshots.blogspot.com Love seeing Phebe blossom and reading about her adventures and antics in your family. What a blessing! Erin
