homemade popsicles!

Do you remember making popsicles as a child? I do!

We were in IKEA a couple of weeks ago and spotted these little popsicle makers. The girls (mostly Lilah) were completely ecstatic to get making popsicles and we've made quite a few flavours over the past while. My girls favourite flavour is actually the smoothies I make them, only this time they're frozen! I make, what we call, 'banana juice'... it is basically (whole) milk and a banana liquidized with my little hand blender. They love drinking this, but freezing it, well that's even better! Also, for a change I added a little (hot chocolate) powder to this same mix... yum!

Lilah's favourite is the straight banana and milk and Phebe loves the banana and milk, with the added chocolate powder!

The thing I love about these is how healthy they are... the girls can eat as many as they want in a day: breakfast, lunch, supper and all the in-between times! And right now, with the heat and humidity (today) standing at 38°C, there's no way I'm going to say no to a popsicle!

  1. Wow, those look yummy! I have one of those nifty popsicle molds, too, and when I make homemade smoothies (usually just super ripe bananas and berries) I make more than I know we'll drink and just freeze the rest. Kerry loves it.
