My Mini Moo has been sick since Boxing Day.
She's been down and up and back down again and now I think (and hope and pray) she's on her way back up again.
She gained a bit of energy today and it was SO nice to see her smile again. She's still pale and weak, and she's on antibiotics. Can you believe we've only left the house once since Christmas Day? And that was to visit the doctor. Just as well there are plenty of toys around here to play with!
And to be fair, it's actually been nice to just hang out at home over the holidays with no schedules or routines. It sure feels good!
For Phebe, Boxing Day morning started out with a common cold, which included a runny nose and plenty of sneezes.
She and her sister had a few horsey rides (on Baba's legs!)and entertained themselves with a little fishing game and a few other toys!
Then, the "common cold" spiked into a nasty 40.5°C fever. I've never had to care for a child with fever before, so I was quite worried to say the least. Let's just say, this was my scariest moment of parenting yet! I consulted with Dr Google - I know, not the best idea, but it was Boxing Day! I tell you it took quite a while to get that fever lowered. With medication and cool cloths, we could only get it down to 39°C. And this morning it was pretty similiar, she wasn't too hungry either and what she did eat, her little belly rejected. But by late afternoon, today, she seemed to take a little turn for the better - she picked up a little energy, found and donned her sunglasses and made being a sickie, look rather cool!
According to Phebe's referral paperwork, a fever is something she deals with on a fairly regular basis. Phew. I have my fingers and toes crossed that it'll be quite a while before she gets another.
Such a sweet sister relationship, they share.
I love these girls more than words.
We laugh we cry, we make time fly.
Best friends are we, my sister and me!
There is no holding this girl back when it comes to shovelling snow!
I would even say, it makes her super happy!
Phebe had her second appointment at CHEO (Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario) last Tuesday, exactly 7 weeks from our first appointment. Her bloodwork came back looking beautiful! Her lead levels are a tiny bit high and her Vitamin D is a tiny bit low... very normal considering the environment she lived in for the first 2 years of her life. Her chest x-ray results, again, came back showing everything in keeping with a child who has lived with a VSD for 2 years. There's a little blood on the lungs which is normal for this condition.
And here's the good news... her weight, in 7 weeks Phebe went from 10th percentile to 25th percentile! Wow! Now this shouldn't have come as a surprise to me... because this girl can eat!! In fact, right now she can eat as much as me, and that's sayin' somethin'! Her height moved up a little too, but not much. She's already in the 50th percentile for height, so I'm not too worried. Plus height is normally a slower catch-up.
Seriously though, we are so pleased and thankful that she's a happy healthy girl. Her Cardiology appointment is scheduled for January 9th. It will be nice to know what's going on with that little heart of hers.
I also took her for her first Timmies last week! She and I shared a donut - split evenly, I might add!
When she'd eat her share, she request "more"!
Yes, I ended up buying her two more timbits...which she gobbled down!
Our little pilot had a lot of fun today, at the Canada Aviation and Space Museum.
Without a doubt, this is the cutest pilot I've ever seen!

Sent with lots of love, and a big ole grin!
This morning, amid a messy spell of freezing rain, we headed out to meet Santa Claus at the local mall.
Phebe didn't seem too worried about ths "sampa" visit, and was even shouting and waving at him - "Hi Sampa!" before it was our turn to see him! I think she was happy to finally meet this chap that her big sister has been raving about! Of course, for Phebe, anything her big sister does is the final word. She follows along with glee.
She even had a chat with santa, although, to be fair, santa may not have understood a lot of it!
And the best part for me, I got to take my own pictures!
We were at the mall today and the queue to see Santa was long, plus Lilah wasn't with us, so I had no intentions of taking Phebe to see Santa! However, as we were walking by, I stopped with Phebe, pointed in Santa's direction and said "Look Phebe, there's Santa!" Phebe, my dearest child, is not at all diplomatic... and so, she yelled: "Hiiiii SAMPA!"
Even though we weren't terribly close, Santa still heard her. He turned and gave her a wave! I'm pretty sure she was delighted that he waved to her, because she sang "Hi Sampa!" around the mall for the next 2 hours!
I love that girl of mine. And I adore her personality.
She also got her first candy cane today. The mall Customer Service gave it to her and she was so happy that her smile made her eyes disappear. Oh, and that's another thing I absolutely love about her!
