china trip : international medical clinic

pj

Today Phebe had a medical examination in order for us to apply for her visa entry into Canada. It was a long morning, but a good morning.

We had a Doctor assess Phebe, who is originally from Montreal and has been practicing in this international clinic (in Beijing) for over 10 years. She did a quick assessment of Phebe, especially her heart, which we were a little concerned about.

It looks like Phebe has what she calls "A textbook VSD" - and backed that up with, "It's so perfectly textbook, that it's every medical students dream!" I'm not sure I would call it a dream, but we feel so thankful that it is pretty minor. She said the chamber of the heart has a hole in it and it will more than likely need to be repaired. Of course, we will find out much more when we get home and have a Cardiologist do the tests that are required. But for now, we are thanking the Lord that she is in such great health. The doctor was also very happy about all her other development and other than being a little underweight, Miss Phebe had a great assessment.

There is no doubt that our little woman is already eating enough to pack on a few extra pounds! And her heart condition does not slow her down one bit... in fact, we are the ones having a hard job keeping up with her! There are certainly no outward signs that Phebe has a heart condition.

  1. Hi Jill!
Really happy to read that Phebe is fin and that it's pretty minor. We had an appointment with SOS Int'l as well on Monday pm and met Dr Chen. She's really great! She told us that everything is fine with our little Bamboo. Youppi!

Hope you'll continue to enjoy Beijing. We're leaving tomorrow night for Montreal!!! Have a safe trip back home ;)

  9. So happy to hear that Phebe's medical exam revealed nothing new to you. And it certainly doesn't look like her VSD slows her down one bit.

  15. Praise the Lord! She does seem so strong and vibrant and full of energy. Those traits will carry her very far when and if she needs the surgery. I am praying though that it heals in the meantime. God is the great healer.
